Standard and special glazes with many profiles are available but too numerous to illustrate. The full colour range is unlimited and glazes may be produced to match original colours for extensions and repairs. Some crazing may occur at any time and this is an inherent characteristic of glazed tiles and does not affect the life or performance of the tile.
Glazed clay roof tiles have a record of protecting roofs from the cold of a Scandinavian winter to the heat of a Saudi Arabian summer.
During the 1920s coloured glazed roofs became fashionable with architects and house builders and many fine examples still exist in select areas throughout the British Isles.
We are able to match the original tiles and colours as closely as possible and with improved manufacturing methods, refined clays and environmentally conforming glazes, offer a new lease of life to these classic buildings.
For new properties we are able to offer architects and clients an unlimited choice of glazed colours, whether to a specified colour reference, a manufacturer’s standard colour range, or a combination of both.
In addition to the aesthetic contribution glazed clay roof tiles give to a property, their smooth surface helps deter lichens and moss, and reduces silt content where rainwater harvesting is employed.
